Dating Tips and Personality

Introduction

The dating tips that people receive are numerous and usually come from a number of different sources. Many people in today’s world claim to have the perfect answer for dating and claim to be able to help you cure all your ills. These people are probably good intentioned, but something that people tend to forget when it comes to dating tips is that the tips themselves are highly personality dependent. There are some general online dating tips that apply to all situations, but as far as pick up lines, activities and methods for getting people to enjoy your company are concerned, personality does play a big role in what works and what doesn’t.

Introverted Versus Extroverted

The main way to divide personality into two categories is through the method of dividing people into introverted and extroverted people based on their personalities. When it comes right down to it, these are the two main ways to look at people because they are the dominant personality traits that to a certain degree tend to define what makes a person tick.

An introverted person is a person that tends to be more inward than outward in their personality direction, hence the term intro being utilized at the start of the word. People that are introverted tend to be better off alone or in small groups than within large situations and for that reason if you enjoy sitting at home and reading or watching television as opposed to going out to a club, you are certainly an introverted person. Introverted people can be shy or just not good in group situations, but when you look at it in an overall sense, you are going to see introversion as something that refers to yourself as opposed to others.

By contrast, an extroverted person is the exact opposite. An extroverted person will be more outward than inward in their personality direction, meaning that they are going to be great in situations with large groups. Extroverted people really have no problems whatsoever in making new friends or falling into conversation with complete strangers and it is for that reason that extroverted people tend to go into careers such as show business and politics where they get to use their excellent people skills.

Influence on Other Personality Traits

Now that you know the difference between extroversion and introversion, you can probably guess some of the other personality traits that are common in both dominant archetypes. We have already discussed shyness and preference for solitude as being characteristics of introversion, but extroversion has characteristics as well such as wanting to be the life of the party and needing attention. Both are valid ways for people to express themselves and part of the reason that there is such rich variation in people is the fact that some are introverted and some are extroverted. Because of this variation however, different dating tips will apply to different groups. Keep this in mind whenever you are reading articles regarding different dating tips.
